Carley Colton - Principal

Dear Families -

My name is Carley Colton, and I am delighted to be a part of the Kountze Elementary School family and serve as your new principal. Our school community has dedicated, talented members committed to doing what is in the best interest of our students. We will continue to put students first at KES and work diligently to ensure their success.

I have previously served as an instructional coach for Vidor ISD, and as a literacy curriculum specialist and kindergarten/1st grade teacher for Houston ISD. I entered teaching 17 years ago with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in business from Texas A&M. Upon graduating, I joined Teach for America, a corps of collegiate leaders pursuing education, which shaped my “why” for public education as being a pillar of equity in our society. I have a master’s in education from the University of St. Thomas, specializing in educational administration, and I have completed my doctoral studies through Texas A&M University pending my dissertation in public school administration.

I am from Hardin County and grew up in Lumberton, TX. In addition to my professional achievements, my greatest accomplishment is my family. I am a mother to my amazing 4-year-old twins, Colton and Caylee. As a family, we enjoy traveling, swimming, reading, couponing, riding trains, and spending time with one another.

As a parent, I always want what is best for my children and will work tirelessly to ensure your children have the best possible experiences at Kountze Elementary School.

This past month, I worked closely with district personnel to ensure a smooth transition. During this time, I learned more about our school, community, and the unique needs of our students and staff. I am committed to embracing the positive traditions and practices that are already in place at Kountze Elementary School while working diligently to ensure success for the future. My motto is, "Students First, Every Day," and I believe all children should receive an exemplary education in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. Together we can help our children excel and provide them with an education that is second to none.

I am honored and humbled to serve as the new principal for Kountze Elementary School and look forward to meeting our parents and community members. My door is always open to you, and I sincerely welcome your input and support. I am excited about all we will accomplish together for our children and look forward to celebrating our collective success this school year.

All the best,

Carley Colton
